Cultural norms are fascinating, but puzzling. I recall watching commercials on television in the Middle East. There was a product advertised called, “Fair and Lovely.” The grocery store below me, in the building where I used to live, sold the product. The product is also advertised and sold in Southeast Asia, for both women and men who are displeased with their skin complexion. “Fair and Lovely”...

I learned something new today...
Sweetest Day, observed the third Saturday of October, originated in Cleveland in 1922. Although it has evolved into a kind of “Valentine’s Day in the fall,” Sweetest Day started out as a day to do something kind for those less fortunate. The first Sweetest Day, a Cleveland candy factory employee took candy to orphans and shut-ins. Thanks MSN!
